National Summary

This topic covers OSHA’s flammable liquids standard, which applies to any liquid with a flashpoint at or below 199.4° F (93° C). The term “combustible” has been deleted from the flamamble liquids regulation due to GHS revisions.

All employers who use or store flammable liquids must comply with OSHA’s standard, which includes details on constructing and locating storage areas, procedures to control and extinguish fires, and steps to prevent contact between flammable liquids and ignition sources. Employers whose employees work with flammable liquids must also comply with OSHA’s Hazard Communication standard for these substances.
