This topic covers OSHA’s standard for powered platforms (29 CFR 1910.66), which is designed to protect window washers and building maintenance workers on high-rise buildings.

The standard covers powered platform installations permanently dedicated to interior or exterior building maintenance of a specific structure or structures. Building maintenance includes window cleaning, caulking, metal polishing, reglazing, etc. The standard does not apply to suspended (swinging) scaffolds used to service buildings temporarily.
