This topic covers OSHA’s Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens standard, which is intended to minimize occupational exposure to HIV, Hepatitis B, and other bloodborne pathogens.

The standard applies to any employer with workers whose jobs may put them at risk of bloodborne pathogen exposure. To comply, employers must develop a written exposure control plan and implement safety measures including engineering and work practice controls, personal protective equipment (PPE) provision, and employee training.
