This topic covers first aid, which is defined as any one-time treatment and follow-up for minor injuries, including cuts, abrasions, bruises, first-degree burns, sprains, and splinters, as well as emergency cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
One or several workers should be properly trained to administer basic first aid, including CPR, and workplaces should contain a well-stocked first-aid kit accessible to all employees. OSHA does not consider injuries requiring only first aid to be recordable injuries under its injury recordkeeping rule. Any employer who designates one or more employees to administer first aid must comply with OSHA’s bloodborne pathogens rule.
