An exit route must be a permanent part of every workplace, and consists of a continuous and unobstructed path of exit travel from any point within a workplace to a place of safety. In most cases, at least two exit routes must be available for every employee. Larger facilities may require more exit routes, and for certain small facilities, just one exit route is sufficient.
