This topic covers construction-related fall protection systems, programs, and training to protect employees from falls from unprotected sides and edges that are 6 feet (ft) or more above a lower level, and protection from falling objects.
It applies to all construction activities, except when employees are making an inspection, investigation, or assessment of workplace conditions prior to the actual start of construction work or after all construction work has been completed.
There are separate fall protection rules that apply to ladders, stairs, scaffolding, aerial lifts, towers, steel erection, cranes, derricks, hoists, elevators, conveyors, or excavations.
See the Slips and Falls topic for information about slips, trips, and falls in general industry workplaces.
